Located at the newly redeveloped, FINA compliant Parap Pool, Darwin Swimming Club offers members a year round, modern training facility. DARSC:

Competitive Swimming

Darwin Swimming Club provides opportunities for swimmers to participate in competitive swimming through its in-house Club Nights, participation in Northern Territory Swimming programmed events and intra and interstate competitions.

Club Nights

These are fun and informal events held at Parap Swimming Pool.  They offer a chance, particularly for new swimmers, to experience swim racing in a comfortable and fun team based environment as well as the opportunity for more experienced swimmers to work on their Personal Best times.  Club Nights are run similar to a swim meet so new members can experience a similar set up to a competitive meet. Swimmers will be called to a marshalling area to await their event just like in a competitive race (but with heaps of support and without the pressure).  A professional starter will start each race so children can understand the various whistle instructions and starters 'beep'.

Members do not race against each other, although the events are timed so members can gain a Personal Best (PB) for each stroke. These PB's give members something to aim for and improve on at the next Club Night. It is fantastic to watch new PB's being set as the Club Nights are run throughout the year. We love PB's at the club!

There will usually be a varied program of formal and informal races run over approximately an hour and a half on a Friday night. This is followed by a very informal BBQ dinner to allow time to mingle socially with other club members and parents.

We welcome and encourage all members and their families to attend these fun and beneficial club nights.

For information on the next Club Night please go to Events/Club Nights.

NT Swimming Competition Calendar

As a registered affiliate of NT Swimming Incorporated, Darwin Swimming Club registered swimmers are able to compete in all NT Swimming Meets.  A full competition calendar is available on the NT Swimming website, including detailed meet information for individual events and qualifying times where applicable.

The Club runs time trials on a Saturday morning for swimmers requiring an entry time for particular swim meets.  Please note that time trial times are not always acceptable - refer to the detailed meet information to determine qualification requirements.  Entry fees for all swim meets are required to be paid at the time of entry.  Swimming Northern Territory does not refund entry fees after entries have closed.

Intra and Interstate Swim Meets

Each year the Club identifies intra or interstate competitions to attend as a team. These may include, but are not limited to the following events:

Katherine Birthday Carnival

School Sport Australia Swimming Championships

Age Championships

Various South Australian competitions

BIMP Games

Please talk to your coach about qualifying times for these and other events.

Club Championships

At the end of each season, the club holds a Club Championships. This is a fun (yet slightly competitive!) event where members can race to achieve ribbons and PB's.

A presentation night follows this event where member's achievements throughout the year are celebrated and rewarded.
